The iRise User Group meetings provided a wealth of useful information. Among the highlights was hearing iRise customers spell out their experiences using iRise, and the impact it had on their companies. Below are a few of the highlights.
Haworth Case Study: Creating 'The Agency Within'
Brad Ruiter has been involved in web development for over 10 years and now leads the iRise Visualization Practice for Haworth globally. In this case study Brad talks about how his team used visualization to compress ideation, requirements definition and design into a single step. Visualization has been used across a broad range of projects including a re-launch of the Haworth Website, a custom SAP module and the company's first iPhone app. The success on these projects prompted Haworth to fundamentally transform the way that business software is designed and delivered at the company. The entire process has been streamlined and condensed in a collaborative, rapid, iterative approach that has paid massive dividends in lower cost, faster delivery and higher quality. Brad also shares best practices and practical advice on how to adopt visualization as a standard in the development process.

JPMorgan Chase Case Study: Implementing iRise
Monica Longmire is a key participant in the integration of visualization into JPMorgan Chase's software development process. Monica focuses on usability for internal applications that are used by over 200,000 JPMC employees around the world. In this case study, Monica focuses on the rapid adoption of iRise at JPMC, including the development of an Interaction Pattern Library - a set of reusable components that are shared through the iRise Definition Center. Pattern libraries are an effective way to enforce usability best practices as well as corporate branding standards throughout a diverse set of business units. The net effect is that customers and employees are presented with a consistent experience at the bank, no matter where they do business. Watch Video

Interactive Usability Evaluation & Interaction Patterns Library
The JPMorgan Chase & Co. Shared Services User Experience team is demonstrating an innovative concept and method of delivering interactive heuristic/usability reviews. Their team used iRise to create an interactive usability evaluation to more effectively highlight issues and illustrate recommendations.
The interactive evaluation promotes:
- Quick comparison of the current site and new design suggestions
- Direct visual association to usability issues
- Visual, textual and interactive description of intended functionality
The JPMorgan Chase UX team has also created a patterns library as a resource for developers and designers who are incorporating common interaction patterns into their prototypes. The library provides standard information, working examples, and an image library. Those utilizing the library can leverage existing patterns and modify or submit new patterns to include in the library.
