iRise Announces Integration to IBM Rational Requirements Composer

New Solution Helps Organizations Save Cost and Eliminate Risk of Project Failure

iRise Connect for IBM Rational Requirements Composer gives requirements professionals the ability to embed live, high fidelity software visualizations directly into the Requirements Composer product by leveraging iRise SmartView™, a wrapper technology similar to popular YouTube video embedding. Using iRise Connect, IBM users can interact with ‘live’ visualizations and fully experience simulated pages, scenarios and masters directly within the Requirements Composer environment. The visualization assets are published in real time from iRise to the Requirements Composer repository and can be linked into the web of requirements artifacts.

Press Coverage of the announcement included:

CNN Money.com Article

"Through our work on thousands of Fortune 1000 IT projects helping businesses visualize applications before they're built, we know first hand that Rational Requirements Composer will make the daunting requirements definition process more visual and reduce paper consumption for our customers..."

Software Simulation Tool Integrated with IBM’s Requirements Product
"iRise Connect for IBM Rational Requirements Composer will soon be available. This integration, built on IBM’s open Jazz technology platform will make high-fidelity iRise visualizations instantly accessible from within IBM Rational Requirements Composer..."

IBM Pitches Tool for Tighter App Dev
"Software development can often be downright wasteful, with more than a third of software development projects at Fortune 500 companies being abandoned because user requirements cannot be verified..."

Federal IT Waste Prevention Act Passes Senate Sub-Committee

An important bill designed to prevent endemic waste surrounding federal government IT projects has passed a Senate committee vote. The Information Technology Investment Oversight Enhancement and Waste Prevention Act (S. 3384) would require federal agencies to regularly report to Congress on significant shortfalls in the cost, schedule and performance of their IT programs. The legislation would also encourage better planning and ensure that officials are alerted soon after problems arise.

Among other provisions, the proposed Bill requires projects that are over 40% off schedule or cost estimates to be reported directly to Congressional oversight committees. At that point these distressed projects would have access to a small ‘strike force’ of experienced private and public sector IT experts that would focus on areas like earned value management, defining requirements and project management.
