iRise Labs Launches Beta Program for Extending iRise Enterprise Edition

iRise seeks go-to-market partners that will extend market leading visualization solution

El Segundo, Calif. – February 10, 2009 – iRise Labs, a division of iRise®, the world’s leading visualization solutions company, today launched a private beta program for the iRise Extension API, an interface definition that will enable third-party development of a broad spectrum of integrations and extensions to the iRise Enterprise Edition platform.  iRise customers and alliance partners will be able to leverage the iRise Extension API to extend the capabilities of the iRise platform and more tightly integrate it into their unique development processes and environments.  At the same time third-party developers will also be able to create innovative commercial offerings for the iRise ecosystem; solutions that may then be co-marketed by iRise.  The private beta period begins today.

“iRise is the market leader in software visualization, and moreover, the only enterprise-grade visualization platform that addresses the needs of globally distributed companies,” stated Maurice Martin, president, COO and founder of iRise.  “As our customers and partners continue to roll out iRise as an enterprise standard in order to reduce the risk and cost of defining and delivering their business software portfolio, the ability to integrate into a diverse set of process methodologies and technologies is critical. Enabling customers, partners and a third-party ecosystem to extend iRise to meet these customer-specific needs is a win/win for everyone and dramatically accelerates the availability of solution- and industry-specific add-ons to our enterprise visualization platform.”
With the iRise Extension API, two types of extensions can be created:

  1. Visualization Component Plug-ins:

  2. Visualization Component plug-ins allow new types of behavior to be visualized.  They are available as basic building blocks after being imported into iRise Studio, a drag-and-drop modeling environment. Some plug-ins will leverage live Web services, such as Google Maps, to allow simulation of mash-ups.  Other visualization plug-ins may be industry- and technology-specific components for visualizing unique functionality and behavior of SAP®, Oracle®, or finance and healthcare applications, for example.

  3. Integration Plug-ins:

  4. Integration plug-ins allow visualization assets and information stored on the iRise Definition Center to be shared with external systems and tools, and vice versa.  Real-time, bi-directional synchronizations, as well as one-way, on-demand imports and exports are supported.  The iRise Extensions API will allow integrations with, but is not limited to:

    • Testing tools to trace requirements to test cases
    • Reporting and analysis tools such as Business Objects
    • The iRise Definition Center reporting engine for the creation of custom reports for large-scale user system administration, auditing, and project meta-data reporting
    • Instant Messenger, email and RSS-feed platforms to accelerate collaboration
    • HTML, UML, test case and code generation tools to jump-start downstream development activities
    • Click-stream analysis tools for usability testing against simulations early in the application development cycle

iRise is seeking go-to-market partners to deliver commercial offerings in all of these areas, and others.  Customers, ISVs and web developers interested in participating in the iRise Extensions API beta program should contact beta@irise.com for more information.

Software Visualization – The Ultimate Change Agent
The world’s best run companies recognize that tough economies are exactly the right time to take bold steps to change the status quo and leap ahead of the competition. Consistently delivering innovative and highly usable business-critical applications is often the key to capitalizing on this kind of market opportunity.  iRise visualization gives companies a powerful way to define applications right – the first time.  By enabling global organizations to “test drive” and fully experience systems early in the process, iRise is an essential strategy to consolidate application portfolios, accelerate delivery and leverage global sourcing without delays and cost overruns.

With thousands of projects completed successfully, the value of visualization has proven to be enormous for businesses in highly competitive markets:

  • Get to market twice as fast;
  • Eliminate 30% of project cost;
  • Ensure success of global sourcing strategies; and,
  • Dramatically improve customer experience

About iRise
iRise is the world’s leading provider of visualization software for business applications.    Visualization is quickly becoming a critical competitive advantage for businesses to more effectively communicate their needs to technology teams and give everyone involved the ability to fully experience applications before they are built.  Companies of all sizes like General Motors, UPS, Wachovia, Manpower, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and many others use iRise to “test drive” their applications before building, which accelerates time to revenue, improves customer experience, and drives costs down.  At iRise, our vision is that by 2020, all business software will be visualized before being built, the same way that every car, airplane, and building is visualized today.  Headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., iRise is backed by Morgan Stanley Venture Partners, and Deutsche Bank, and has sales offices across North America.
