iRise Sponsors U.S. Healthcare Innovation Challenge

Visualization used as vehicle for contest sponsored by New Zealand Trade & Enterprise

El Segundo, Calif. - April 27, 2009 - iRise®, the world's leading visualization solutions company, today announced that it is sponsoring a new business initiative that has been launched by the New Zealand government to help capture commercial opportunities in the United States healthcare market. Announced on April 21st by the New Zealand Government, the 12 month contest is called; "Focus on Health - A New Zealand Innovation Challenge" and has been developed by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the New Zealand Government's national economic development agency.

"This initiative is designed to take ideas and turn them into commercial success," said Gerry Brownlee, New Zealand economic development minister. "We believe this is truly a unique initiative for New Zealand. This is an opportunity for New Zealanders to see their ideas fast-tracked into the United States - the world's largest health market.

Participants in the contest enter a process where their innovations are evaluated and receive professional mentoring. Finalists are invited to participate in a United States road show to meet investors, business partners and customers. iRise is supplying its enterprise grade visualization software to the contestants to be used as a vehicle to bring their ideas to life and give everyone the ability to "test drive" the innovations. iRise will also be supplying the top three finalists with a free copy of its market leading iRise Studio Professional Edition visualization solution as part of a prize pool worth more than $500,000 of in-kind and cash prizes.

"iRise is delighted to be involved in the New Zealand Innovation Challenge," stated Mitch Bishop, CMO at iRise. "Visualization is a perfect solution to empower innovative ideas around the globe."

The Challenge brings together an extensive network of judges, advisors and mentors from medical, academic and business backgrounds; from New Zealand and the United States. They include John Halamka, the chief information officer and dean for technology at Harvard Medical School who is often consulted by Congress and the White House.

New Zealand based companies, individuals and not-for-profit organisations are all eligible to enter, and any type of health innovation product or service that has not already been fully commercialised, including software, hardware, medical device, bioactive or pharmaceutical products and services, can be entered. Entries are being accepted now, with up to 10 finalists announced in November 2009.
