iRise integrates platform with BEA, in move to create breakthrough solution that can connect business and IT
Effort Can Establish Traceability Relationship Between iRise Visual Definition Assets and BEA Visual Development Assets
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- October 14, 2003 - In a groundbreaking effort to create an integrated definition and development solution, iRise (www.irise.com) -- a leading enterprise software and services company dedicated to bridging the communication gap between business and IT, today announced its integration with BEA WebLogic Platform™ 8.1. The iRise Application Simulator™ extension for BEA WebLogic Workshop™ 8.1 is designed to provide developers an integrated view between application code and application requirements generated by the iRise Application Simulator platform.
The iRise Application Simulator extension for BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 is designed to enhance communication between business stakeholders and IT by helping WebLogic Workshop programmers to easily trace to the reference simulation that acts as the stable, yet interactive, specification blueprint for their development tasks. It also can provide clear visibility to those requirements that have not yet been implemented.
The iRise Application Simulator™ platform is designed to provide the ability to visually validate requirements through an interactive simulation prior to development, thus ensuring that business applications meet the needs of the business while minimizing the cost and time it takes to develop them. The platform can allow for the definition, testing and approval of Web-based business software before developers write the first line of code.
BEA WebLogic Platform 8.1 can converge all the critical elements of application infrastructure into a powerful platform for business integration. WebLogic Workshop is a comprehensive development environment for creating J2EE applications. Workshop combines a code centric environment with visual designers and application layout engine for developing XML Web services, Web applications, process workflows, and EJB's in a single application. Uniquely architected for both J2EE experts and those new to Java, Workshop includes a standards-based J2EE framework that can abstract the coding complexities associated with delivering service oriented applications and components. WebLogic Workshop 8.1 is designed to enable application and enterprise developers to work together for the first time on the same platform in the same language, which can dramatically increase productivity across IT organizations.
"This integration recognizes that our two organizations have complementary solutions that can help increase productivity using the same technique - iRise is designed to let business analysts visually model and simulate applications, while WebLogic Workshop 8.1 is designed to allow developers to visually model and develop them - and, when linked together, can provide a seamless hand-off of specifications from business to IT, " said Emmet B. Keeffe III, CEO and co-founder, iRise.
"The market clearly needs a solution that gives developers direct access to clear, stable specifications from which to develop," said Dave Cotter, director of WebLogic developer product marketing, BEA Systems (Nasdaq: BEAS). "For the WebLogic Workshop user, less time spent clarifying and iterating on requirements with business analysts or end users means less development rework and faster time-to-value. The iRise integration with WebLogic Workshop is designed to accomplish that goal."
The iRise Application Simulator software plug-in for BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 can provide traceability between requirements and the simulation in iRise Application Simulator and design elements in WebLogic Workshop. WebLogic Workshop users can view all development components associated with a selected set of requirements and vice versa. Users additionally can mark the status of specific requirements as being "developed."
