Capgemini & iRise Bring User Experience into Focus Through Visualization

Alliance looks to cut up to 50% of user experience design time

NEW YORK and EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Aug. 28, 2006 — Capgemini U.S. LLC (Capgemini), entity of the Capgemini Group, one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, and iRise®, the world's leading application definition software company, today announced an alliance agreement and plans to integrate iRise's suite of visualization tools into Capgemini's Rapid Design and Visualization (RDV) Labs. Capgemini will use iRise's software to help its clients lay out critical path options at the start of engagements and bring products to market faster.

"Organizations can no longer survive on price and feature differentiation alone. The next era of competition will involve experience-based differentiation," said Kevin Schwartz, vice president in Capgemini's consulting services organization. "iRise has defined the standard for visualizing robust user-centered solutions. Using iRise in our RDV Labs can help our customers shave up to 50% off their design and development time, while greatly improving overall quality, completeness, and buy-in from business and IT stakeholders. Simulations with iRise also improve our ability to deliver projects in a distributed, global manner and can readily be deployed for real-time user testing. Our clients will find the combination of iRise's technology and its unique application in Capgemini's RDV Labs to be much more than the sum of its parts."

iRise helps business and IT staff work together to simulate new applications, such as websites, intranets and advanced enterprise software. Taking the place of stacks of written specifications, flow charts and screenshot mockups, the simulations are created through a simple drag-and-drop environment where users can arrange and link features ranging from simple login screens to dynamic calculation-based displays. Visualizing the user interface — before a single line of code is written or schematic is drawn — drastically reduces re-work time, stakeholder conflicts and ultimately time to market.

"Fortune 500 executives walk out of Capgemini's RDV Labs saying 'problem solved,'" said Sherrick Murdoff, vice president of business development and global alliances for iRise. "Integrating iRise into the process ensures those executives leave the lab earlier than they ever thought."

Capgemini's RDV Labs and methodologies incorporate rapid visualization and interaction, helping to bring clarity to mission-critical business systems before development begins. The Lab reduces complexity in every phase of a program, employing user-centered design techniques to validate detailed requirements. This methodology drives user participation in the design process, reducing the risk of unmet user expectations, late delivery and cost overruns.
