iRise On Campus Program Promotes Innovation with Leading Universities
Academic community gains access to rapid simulation product for classroom use
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — April 17, 2006 — iRise®, the world’s leading application definition software company, today announced that it has been voted “Best Enterprise Solution” at the Spring 2006 IT ChannelVision™ Event held last week in Orlando, FL. iRise’s simulation software allows users to clearly and visually define business applications (e.g. a new e-commerce system, a wealth management CRM solution or a new customer service portal). Focused on defining the right application requirements before any code is written, iRise’s software allows businesses to bring higher quality and more innovative products and services to market faster while reducing the risk of project failure. iRise’s solution was selected by the over 250 resellers and solution providers in attendance.
iRise® the world’s leading application definition software and services company, today announced iRise On Campus, a new program to provide university students and faculty with access to iRise’s award-winning software, resources and curriculum enhancement to qualified schools. Leading undergraduate and graduate programs in the computer science, information systems, software engineering and entrepreneurship fields, including MBA and Executive MBA programs, can readily benefit from the program. Already deployed at many Fortune 1000 companies, iRise’s state-of-the art simulation software allows users to clearly and visually define business applications (e.g. a new e-commerce system, a wealth management CRM solution or a new customer service portal). iRise’s software is focused on defining the right application requirements before any code is written, thereby allowing businesses to bring higher quality and more innovative products and services to market faster while reducing the risk of project failure.
Schools involved in the initial pilot program include: Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Calif. and Neumont University in Utah, an institution that was a recipient of the CIO Magazine CIO 100 Award in 2005 for its revolutionary approach to computer science education. In addition, several MBA students involved in entrepreneurship programs from top business schools, including MIT’s Sloan School of Management and USC’s Marshall School of Business, are using iRise to develop their ideas for business plan competitions and for class projects.
“Neumont provides students with state-of-the-art technology and best practices for building business applications – working with iRise helps us accomplish that goal,” said Graham Doxey, president of Neumont University. “Our unique 30-month B.S. degree program in computer science involves working on enterprise projects in real-world environments using today’s most advanced tools, such as iRise.”
“Innovation and design have become increasingly important in a world where much of the software development process is being commoditized,” said Maurice Martin, president, chief operating officer and founder of iRise. “Our simulation solution is changing the way software and information systems are visualized at the beginning of the software development lifecycle, before doing any coding. The academic community shares our same goal of spurring innovation and we are pleased to team with them to solve today’s business challenges.”
Universities participating in the program benefit in these key areas:
- Resources – provide guest lectures, product demos, best practices and real-life case studies to selected classes, in these core domains: application definition, requirements, business analysis, simulation and user interface (UI) design;
- Software – offer free educational use software licenses and telephone support to qualified professors, computer labs and students; and,
- Curriculum Enhancement – embed iRise software in the curriculum of hands-on or project-based classes
Dolphy Abraham, professor of computer information systems at Loyola Marymount University’s College of Business Administration, will be piloting iRise for two of his classes during the Spring semester. Professor Abraham commented, “System definition and analysis are two areas that we anticipate will become more important as other IT functions get outsourced. With iRise, we will ensure that our graduates have the best skills to compete in the future.”
iRise will also be a Silver Sponsor in the 10th Information Technology Competition (ITCX) at Cal Poly Pomona on May 6th, a conference focused on bringing innovation to the campus (www.itcompetition.org ). ITCX showcases teams of students from West Coast universities as they display their information technology skills and talents in five different events. iRise will be presenting the Second Prize for the Web Development event and the competition is hosted by Cal Poly's Management Information Systems Student Association (MISSA).
Academic institutions with undergraduate and graduate programs in these main areas are encouraged to apply to the program: Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Design and Innovation, Human Computer Interaction and Entrepreneurship, To learn more about iRise On Campus, please send an email to academic@irise.com.
About iRise
iRise® is dedicated to bridging the communication gap between business and IT by improving the process of defining software.
