iRise Awarded Patent on Invention of Systems & Methods for Defining a Simulated Interactive Web Page

Company continues to lead industry with innovation around high definition business software simulations

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Feb. 26, 2007 – iRise®, the world's leading application definition software company, today announced that it has been awarded its first U.S. patent, no. 7,174,286, by the U.S. Patent Trademark Office (PTO). The patent covers iRise's invention for the systems and methods for defining a simulated interactive Web page. Similar to computer-aided design (CAD) tools for other industries, simulations built with iRise act as visual blueprints for specifying complex business applications. The patent was awarded on Feb. 6, 2007.

The invention covered by this patent is the use of a graphical, drag-and-drop interface to allow non-technical users to define functionally rich simulations – without resorting to software code to generate them. The state-of-the-art prior to iRise's invention was to repurpose tools and languages originally created for production software development to create 'prototypes'. With this invention, the user is shielded from learning keywords, complex syntax and other challenging requirements common in programming and scripting languages. The patent also protects certain specific implementations of our "alternate view" and "reusable master" features.

"The key to our continued business success is our product," said Maurice Martin, president and co-founder. "iRise is designed for business analysts and user experience professionals, making adoption by non-technical users a non-issue. We're extremely proud of our first patent, which is the end result of tremendous innovation from a group of engineers and designers that believed there had to be a better way to define and build software. With over $200B of application development happening every year in North America alone and our customers reporting 30% savings in budgets and in time to market as a result of using iRise, we are excited about the potential economic impact of our invention and intend to aggressively protect our intellectual property."

iRise's patent portfolio is expected to grow further with four other patent applications under review by the U.S. PTO, and similar submissions with the European Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) office.
