Background
As a leading provider of life insurance, it is critical that this customer consistently demonstrates the benefits of technological leadership to potential clients. This insurance carrier designs and builds custom enrollment portals based on the specific needs of its corporate clients. These online portals provide a range of complex functionality, including intuitive benefits monitoring for employees and employer contract administration. Each portal is further customized by incorporating the customer's unique branding, ensuring the final solution addresses the business needs visually as well as functionally.

Challenge
Because 100% of its insurance sales are handled by third-party brokers, this customer faces unique challenges. The customer's sales representatives must provide online portal prototypes that are easy for brokers to customize and present to clients.

Before iRise, this customer's sales representatives and brokers used wireframe mockups and generic, coded prototypes to present the insurance carrier's solutions, but these methods were inadequate at communicating a detailed, high impact vision to its clients – wireframes could not demonstrate user interaction, and coded prototypes could not be easily customized per client. Compounding frustration, coded prototypes were demonstrated online, and brokers often found themselves without an Internet connection during pivotal presentation meetings.

Result
With iRise, this customer's sales representatives are able to build accurate, realistic enrollment portal simulations on-the-fly. Starting with a standard template, sales people build the customized portal demonstrations, save them as iDocs, which are self-contained application simulations, and then distribute to brokers via email. iRise simulations have accelerated the entire carrier selection process by weeks because the insurance carrier's brokers make visualizing new portals much easier.

Since adopting iRise, this customer's fulfillment of deals larger than $1 million has jumped from 21% to 63%, translating to a $6 million revenue increase. Based on this success, the customer rolled out iRise iDocs to its entire sales force for use on all accounts, both large and small, and the iRise reader is now part of the standard desktop suite for all sales reps.
