Customer Secures New Business For Next-Generation Product Suite
Simulation allows tailored application proposals without coding
Background
This customer is the leading provider of decision-support tools, reservations systems and consulting services for airlines. In spring 2004, the customer launched its next generation reservations and passenger management suite. In order to effectively communicate the advanced capabilities of its next generation suite and get its airline customers excited about this new technology, the customer had to demonstrate that the application suite could be easily customized for customers' individual needs.
Challenge
The cost to develop the next generation suite was considerable, so the customer needed to increase its customers' confidence in the market value of the new system prior to coding. Before iRise, the customer used text requirements to gather its customers' business requirements and developed coded prototypes to validate requirements and present new applications. The process of documenting requirements was slow and left room for interpretation; often, the coded prototypes did not accurately represent the desired application, and customization for individual customers was time-consuming and expensive.
Result
The customer turned to iRise and replaced its existing requirements management process with visual simulation. Using iRise, customer employees could quickly create simulations of the new application suite that were not only accurate and functionally superior to its coded prototypes but reflected each customer's unique branding. iRise simulations allowed customer representatives to visually demonstrate to top airline executives its application suite as a
highly flexible, customizable solution suitable for any airline regardless of region, size or stage of growth.
In once specific success story, leveraging a custom, high-fidelity simulation in his sales presentation, a customer sales representative was able to engage directly with the CEO of their target prospect for the first time and close new business – long before any development work.
